Good news for Europe

Unbeknownst to the majority of consumers the EU has been debating the regulation, and in some cases banning, of nutritional supplements and functional foods over the past few years.  This debate is reaching a climax and could directly affect the consumers choice regarding what supplements than can buy and where they can buy them.

This debate has recently taken a positive turn with the EU differentiating between synthetic supplements and those following naturally occurring standards sourced from whole foods.

The commissioners have stated that the previously intended bans on vitamin E sourced from wheat germ oil, and vegetable sourced beta carotene and folic acid will no longer be brought into effect

This is hugely positive news on two fronts.  Firstly it ensures the availability of these incredibly valuable products and secondly it makes an important differentiation between these health providing nutrients and the harmful synthetic imitations which form over 95% of the market place
