Lost Valley/Vegetarian Food/Herbal Tea and Delicious Popcorn
It has been 10 days since we came to Lost Valley to learn about sustainable living. There has been so much to see and learn at the same time.
I’ve been participating in the Permaculture course for about 2 hours every day and I have been spending the rest of my time in the Lost Valley kitchen.
Yuri will be discussing topics related to Permaculture and sustainable living, while I will be telling about interesting subjects that come my way.
Today I got up at 6.00 to prepare breakfast with Joe (the kitchen Chef). We made oatmeal with cinnamon and chopped bananas, apples, pears, oranges, and grapes.
After doing some research on my computer and taking notes from the course, it was time again to visit the kitchen to prepare dinner. We made polenta with black bean sauce, beets and squash meatballs, and chopped up a lot of vegtables like celery, spinach, carrots, ginger and mint. The kitchen here is vegetarian and vegan, and we only make food from fresh organic vegetables. I have always been interested in food that is healthy for you.
Another healthy resource I love is herbal tea.
For example the tea we drink here is organic tea and so far I have 3 favorites: Peppermint, Roiboss and Yerba Mate. It’s amazing what the nature has to offer.
I usually drink one or two cups of coffee each morning, but after I discovered Yerba Mate and all the healthy things in it, I think I’ll stay with it.
After dinner (18.00-19.30), there is always something going on like workshops, lectures, entertaintment, and movies on the big screen. While these things are happening, there is also something you can snack on like hazelnuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, raisins, and popcorn.
One thing that really excites me is the way they make their popcorn here. By using coconut oil instead of butter or olive oil, it gives the popcorn a delicious flavor. Besides this, they make their popcorn by adding dill, chili, nutritional yeast, or rosemary, which gives eating popcorn another dimension.
