Stop Smoking Turkey!
What disturbs me the most about this wonderful country and even more beatuful city is the air pollution. Just walking to the metro in the mornings is enough to make me hold my breath a couple of times, cough, and make my chest burn. As if being in the middle of the exhaust fumes from the traffic wasn’t enough to make people choke, they choose to inhale even more carcinogenic smoke from cigarettes!!! Young, old, men and women alike walk the streets smoking, they smoke in restaurants, at the hair dressers (what! my hair’s only destined to smell good for three minutes?), in cars, at home, and worst of all, in their own children’s environment.
I have lived in Sweden for 23 years where there’s a national ban on smoking in public buildings and in restaurants. People who smoke at home either do so under the extractor hood in the kitchen or step out onto the balcony. They would definitely not smoke at the hair dressers’, and wouldn’t dream of smoking in the same room as their children. The amount of smokers in Sweden is one of the lowest in the world - only 18 % of the population. What’s the number in Turkey, I wonder?
Can I make a suggestion? Please go out and buy Allen Carr’s book and read it. So many of my friends have read it and managed to kick the ‘habit’ for good. Kill the nicotine monster in you! Here, let me provide you with a link to the website… http://allencarr.com/central/
And in Turkish: www.allencarrturkiye.com or www.sigarayibirakmaninkolayyolu.com
People - good luck!!
